Report from New York,December 6th:”The following notice has been dispensed about this city.Whereas our nation has lately been informed that the letters that have been forged for us by Great Britain are hourly expected to arrive in a certain ship belonging to,or chartered by the East India Company.We therefore declare that we are determined not to be enslaved by any power on earth,and that whosoever shall aid or abet so infamous a design,or shall presume to let their store or stores,for the Reception of the infernal chains,may depend upon it,that we are prepared and shall not fail to pay them an unwelcome visit,in which they shall be treated as they deserve,by THE MOHAWKS-Novemeber 29th-1773.On page 3 in a complete issue of:

2.DELAWARE/TRENTON

“The Rebels recrossed the River Delaware immediately with the prisoners and cannon that they had taken.”

The above ends a despatch from General Sir William Howe,dated New York,December 29th 1776.This report started as follows,”On the 25th instant,in the evening,attacked an out guard from the Post of Trenton.”

A previous despatch dated the 20th of December 1776 at Corriels Ferry concerned a possible crossing of the Delaware by the British forces,made impossible as “the enemy having taken the precaution to destroy or to secure on the south side all the boats.”

 Early issue of the London Gazette with news from Boston in New England-"By ship from this part which arrived at Plymouth,8th of Novemeber,we are informed of the quiet and thriving condition of that place and their ready zeal for His Majesty's Service,which they have lately testified by the voluntary and remarkable supplies sent to Sir John Harman of all sorts of provisions and necessities for the suadron under his command",as quoted on the front page,column 1.Nice watermark,all in a complete issue of THE LONDON GAZETTE,dated 12th of May,1670(Issue No. 468).

 Ship arrives at Lyme on the 9th of May from Virginia-"That plantation is now in a healthy condition,the distemper that reigned among them now being wholly erased."Last report,back page,col 2-2 lines in all.Also report from Plymouth dated 8th May that their ship,The Crown,had arrived from Virginia laden with tobbacco(front page,column 1,line 1).In the first news item the paper reports that none of the vessels arrived lately at Falmouth had heard of any "Pyrates upon the coast."Nice clean condition with super Coat of Arms watermark.A typical single sheet paper of the period which would frame to advantage with glass both sides in an acid free mount.THE LONDON GAZETTE,dated 12th May, 1670.
